IN THE COMMUNITY

NorthEast Foundation 37th Annual Foundation Fashion Week, October/2017

RdM Architecture has been a regular attendee and auction bidder at Carolinas HealthCare Systems NorthEast hospital’s annual fashion show fundraiser. Held in a renovated mill, now City Club at Gibson Mill in Concord, North Carolina, RdM Architecture will be sponsoring a number of guests in appreciation for the work received at the hospital including renovation of IV Therapy, sunroom addition at the Women’s Center, redevelopment of 3B wing for a 23-bed Observation Unit, and the Elevators Modernization Program to name a few.

Carolina Healthcare Foundation in Memory of Tim Ledgerwood, June/2017

In memory of Tim Ledgerwood and our 28-year relationship with him, RdM Architecture made a generous donation on behalf of Mr. Ledgerwood to the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation. Tim was our first CHS client Project Manager back in 1990 when we first began our work with CHS. Mr. Mack has been quoted as saying, “Tim was one of the finest human beings I’ve ever met. He always made me a better architect by helping me see things from the client’s perspective.” Mr. Ledgerwood graciously supported the effort made by this firm over the years saying in a written letter, “RdM Architecture PA has served us well with their ability to communicate ideas, find creative solutions to challenges, and effective technical capabilities.  We find them to be responsive and customer-oriented compared to many other firms.” He will be sorely missed.

Carolinas Rehabilitation Annual Hearts for Rehab Dinner, January/2017

An annual table sponsor with Leach Wallace & Associates, RdM Architecture has been a corporate sponsor of the event since its inception as a lunch affair. Now an evening gala with live and silent auctions, the two firms continue to participate due mainly to its association with Ms. Suzanne Kauserud, its renowned administrator, and the delightful and dedicated staff of this prestigious rehabilitation facility on the main campus of CHS in Charlotte NC. It’s an honor working with this organization to provide architectural, engineering and construction management services for the original Strategic Master Plan, $2.5M redevelopment of Dietary Services and the $3M, 15-single bed C Unit.

Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center, December/2015 – March/2016

Hired to provide Master Planning for the investigation and proposed expansion of this local non-profit preschool, RdM donated a portion of its services to the center.  The project on an acre and a half near downtown Davidson is a mix of existing unrelated pieces but a valuable community asset housing 60 students and looking to increase its community based services to 100+ population.  Proposed elements included a one-story addition to the front of the building with new entry, offices and drop off area along with a rear two story expansion housing new classrooms, community room, offices, ADA compliant restrooms and expanded kitchen.  Working with the Town to gain new parking, tree demolition, watershed requirements and secured walkways around the building were key elements to a very restricted site.

Keystone Substance Abuse Center, Rock Hill SC 2015

Working with this non-profit state sponsored agency that provides services for the treatment of addiction diseases in children and teenagers, RdM Architecture volunteered a portion of its resources in design and construction. With the purchase of a failing and outdated structure on bad soils, RdM Architecture and its sister company, synergyone, implemented design and construction planning to enhance the facility, address building and systems issues, code compliance and limited budgets.

Phoenix Montessori Academy, Huntersville NC 2014 – Present

With the 10 year old school on the brink of disaster having just received notice of their lease being cancelled, the school was referred to RdM Architecture for its blend of design led design-build services. Immediately following our introductory meeting and tour of the school over the holidays in 2014, our team went right to work assembling and collaborating with the design, development and construction teams. Within approximately 10 months, a 7 acre property was identified; a Conditional Use Permit submitted and obtained; leases drafted, negotiated and executed; design and architectural drawings completed; building, Town and NCDOT permits obtained; 10,000 sf building renovated; the site redeveloped; and the joyful Occupancy! Another example of our single sourced Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) services, this private non-profit local school was provided our standard 5% non-profit discount on design and construction services along with a payment plan making their financial burden easier to absorb.

Master Plan, Ada Jenkins Center, Davidson NC 2008

Citing the vast array of needs this local non-profit family care center required, RdM Architecture volunteered its services providing a value of over $35,000 in fees at no cost to the center. Working with the board’s building committee and executive director, the group analyzed the facility’s 19 current programs and their potential growth needs while architects, engineers and contractors, also providing their time free of charge, assessed the center’s physical and utility systems. The six month journey of investigative work, committee meetings, programming and cost estimating resulted in a multi-phase, $2.5M proposed plan.
