St Joseph’s Hospital-North, part of Baycare Health System, located in Lutz, FL was built in 2010 as a 108-bed community hospital with the structural capacity to expand vertically to accommodate another 216 beds. Over the past 5 years, SJHN has experienced a significant growth and is running now at full capacity.
RdM Architecture assisted HOK Architects with the 5-Year Strategic and Facility Master Plan that establishes a road map for SJHN growth. Based on the hospital leadership’s clear strategy for the continued growth of key clinical programs, RdM and HOK identified the facility needs associated with the increase of patient activity.
The Master Plan recommended the vertical expansion of two wings of the hospital with new ICU and progressive care beds to accommodate higher acuity patients. In a second phase, SJHN will expand its diagnostic and treatment services to decompress some of the highly utilized services and will create a dedicated observation unit. An expansion of the central energy plant will also be built to increase capacity of the MEP systems.
