Project Description

Blue Ridge Medical Office Building

Both the interior and exterior suggest a contemporary mountain aesthetic with stone, wood, and stucco.

Like many of the buildings in the North Carolina mountains, this 40,000 sf structure was built on a sloped lot.  RdM Architecture conceived a design with three stories above grade at the street level and an extra floor partially below grade for lease and mechanical space. Both the interior and exterior suggest a contemporary mountain aesthetic with stone, wood, stucco, metal roof, covered entries, and colored glazing systems.  The building was placed on the lot to maximize views from each floor’s private space, minimize the effect of the sloped lot, minimize parking distances to building entrances, provide convenient two-way traffic on site and several outdoor patios.

  • Use of warm indigenous exterior materials and design features to reflect its mountain setting
  • Contemporary statement building emanates the state-of-art OBGYN, orthodontist, gastrointestinal and physical therapy practices within
  • Gained 5,000 sf of leasable area with direct entry access in addition to planned 30,000 sf
  • Maximized use of glazing contrary to typical medical offices for healthier more healing interior environment
  • Typical mechanical and plumbing roof penetrations were coordinated to penetrate the roof within two separate chimney like features giving the standing seam metal hipped roof clean uncluttered surfaces
  • Created mechanical room housing central boiler and air handlers concealed from view by placement in 5,000 sf of added basement
  • Provided interior design services as well as architectural and engineering for all medical tenants
  • $2.8M shell and site, $2M tenant improvements
  • Received Boone Chamber Of Commerce Recognition of Design Excellence
