This project was overseen by Mr. Barrow Koslosky while working at Cogdell & Mendrala Architects, in Savannah, Georgia. Expanding East Georgia College’s services in Statesboro, Georgia, the Academic Facility includes classrooms, laboratories and faculty offices as well as secondary administrative and student service spaces. The first structure to be erected on the new 30-acre Statesboro site, the 32,000 square foot building establishes a permanent facility for the satellite campus. While maximizing classroom and office space was a primary goal of the design, it also features a student commons area to encourage student activities and provide an interactive environment. Close attention was paid to topography and solar orientation. Classrooms are situated to take advantage of north/south light as the building steps down the gentle grade of the site.
